A kind hearted fireman donated his wife’s car to Soldiers off the Street, a national charity based in Wales which helps ex-service personnel who are either homeless or in need of support.

Rich Plumber, himself an ex-serviceman, wanted to donate a Renault Clio to this worthwhile cause. He contacted the motor vehicle department at Sussex Downs College to get staff and students on board in making the vehicle road worthy again.

Brown Brothers Distribution worked closely with the Level 2 motor vehicle bodywork and repair students from Sussex Downs College to provide the paint to restore the car. The students spent one session a week working on the car equating to 34 hours of work and in total received £2.5k worth of support for external businesses.

The restored car was then donated to Dean Roberts, an ex-serviceman who was injured back in 2008 in a motor bike accident.

The college has now said they hope to make this a regular annual event, working with local business in supporting ex-servicemen.
